Strategy
When fighting an abyssal demon, it will teleport and then attack in quick succession. If fighting with magic, allow for downtime in casting animations to allow for the opportunity to dodge its attacks. In addition, players should seek higher ground whilst fighting the abyssal demon with Ranged or Magic attacks. One of the most effective ways to defeat a abyssal demon is to use fire spells, which causes the demon to lose a lot of HP.
Journal
The following text is transcribed from the Journal.
The Abyssal Demon is a nightmare incarnated. Appearing suddenly out of nowhere and capable of tearing a man to shreds in a single swing. No one knows how the demons arrived on Ashenfall, as they are not native to this plane. They dwell, as their name suggests, in the Abyss, the realm between worlds. They were cast out from their homeworld by the god Zamorak when he led the demon uprising on Infernus, and they have remained hateful ever since. Unable to strike at the god that banished them, they turn their fury on every living thing, existing for nothing more than to perpetuate suffering. A necromancer and her Wild Knight ally were the first to encounter the beast. She had been investigating one of the dragonkin ruins, a vault buried deep into the soil, and when they broke the seal, the foul beast emerged. At least, that's what she claims. None have been able to venture deep enough into the vaults to confirm the truth of her words. She and her companion vanished from the area soon after, their whereabouts unknown.
Update history
This information is based on the changelogs of the game.
- Abyssal demons will teleport to the player if the player is either too far away or in an inaccessible area to the demon.
- The Abyssal Demon's magic attack will hit harder when players are on a world with Hard Difficulty on.
Trivia
- Their appearance leans towards the Old School RuneScape design of the abyssal demon, specifically the greater abyssal demon.
- Although they appear to resemble the greater abyssal demon, they are actually much larger than them.
- According to the game's file, there is no spawn point for the abyssal demons in the Fractures Plain, making these seemingly bugged, spawn points.
