Build Protection Totem
articleBuild Protection Totem
The building protection totem is a constructed object that provides griefing protection when in a multiplayer world. Players can activate the totem, protecting their nearby built objects (up to a 20-metre 3D radius) until they deactivate the totem. Each player can only have up to 8 protection totems and does not require any items. However, building another protection totem after reaching the limit will instead result in receiving a message: "Placement limit reached for this piece."

Update history
This information is based on the changelogs of the game.
update
- Building Protection Totems were renamed to Build Protection Totem.
patch
- Building totems no longer lose functionality for clients if placed in a solo world and then opened to the public.
hotfix
- Activated Building Protection Totems will now be in effect if placed in a single-player world that is then converted into a multiplayer world.
Trivia
- The symbols on the side of the totem are Guthixian runes, which spell out the word "behave". This is a recurring message in RuneScape, featuring several objects and quests such as;
- The Sword of Edicts.
- During Zamorak, Lord of Chaos fight,
- The Bow of the Last Guardian.
- Additionally, Sliske's scoreboard, a time-limited object that no longer exists in the game, was modeled after the Sword of Edicts, and also as an inscription with the same runic script, but instead of saying "Behave", it said "Misbehave".
