A crate is a tier 1 constructed object that does not have restrictions to build indoors/outdoors and does not require a foundation to build. The crate is the smallest storage container for up to 16 item slots. To craft or process an item without having the required items in their inventory, players must have the required items in their crate and check the "Linked" checkbox in the crate interface. This will allow players to craft up to a 12-metre radius away from the crate.
Players can also lock their crate by opening the interface and checking the Private checkbox at the bottom.
