The inclusion of rune essence in a staff's design is a testament to the meticulous craftsmanship and artistry involved. This essence, often crushed into a fine powder and dispersed throughout the wood's careful grooves, creates a magical circulatory system within the staff. In this way, the staff becomes a living entity, with the wizard as its beating heart, channelling power through its veins to unleash upon foes. A staff is rarely helpful for less violent magic. They are brute force weapons, where magic is forced into elemental blasts, obliterating the target. More subtle spells rely on the caster's will and are powered directly by their magical skill.
